Police Investigate Threat Made Against Lacey Township High School

LACEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A threat made against Lacey Township High School Tuesday morning prompted a major law enforcement response and a temporary shelter-in-place order as authorities investigated the situation.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, the Lacey Township Police Department received a call at approximately 7:10 a.m. threatening violence at the school.

In response, school officials and law enforcement immediately implemented a shelter-in-place order while officers conducted a comprehensive assessment of the campus and surrounding area. Investigators later determined there was no credible threat to students or the public. The shelter-in-place order was lifted at approximately 10:05 a.m., and the school resumed normal operations.

Officials said Lacey Township High School will remain under heightened security while the investigation continues.
