Pepper spray attack on elderly men sparks hunt for suspect in Queens

Queens, NY – Two elderly men standing outside a commercial building in Queens were suddenly pepper sprayed during a morning confrontation, sending the suspect fleeing down a nearby street as police launched a search.

The incident occurred Tuesday at approximately 7:48 a.m. outside 74-08 Jamaica Avenue, according to NYPD Crimestoppers.

Police said a 68-year-old man and a 72-year-old man were standing in front of the establishment when an unidentified individual approached and engaged them in a verbal dispute.

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly sprayed both victims in the face with pepper spray before fleeing on foot southbound on Eldert Lane.

The conditions of the victims were not immediately released.

Authorities have not identified the suspect and no arrests have been made.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward.
