Package thieves and stolen yard signs spark crime complaints across Stafford County

Deputies are investigating multiple larceny reports involving missing deliveries and stolen signs

STAFFORD, Va. — Deputies in Stafford County are investigating multiple theft reports after residents reported missing packages and stolen yard signs in separate incidents this week.

According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office daily incident report, the first theft investigation began Thursday at approximately 8:14 a.m. on Belle Plains Road.

Deputy Pitts responded after a resident reported several yard signs had disappeared from the property.

The victim told deputies the signs were discovered missing after returning home Wednesday.

Authorities said there were no surveillance cameras in the area to capture the theft.

Later that evening, at approximately 5:46 p.m., Deputy Steinway responded to another larceny report on Cummings Drive involving a missing package.

Investigators said the victim received an email notification confirming delivery of the package, but the item was gone when the resident checked outside.

Deputies said no suspects have been identified in either case.

Both investigations remain ongoing.
