FBI Raids Office of Recently Absent Top Virginia Democrat in Corruption Probe

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — FBI agents raided the office of Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore L. Louise Lucas on Tuesday as part of what federal law enforcement sources described as a major public corruption investigation, according to Fox News.

Federal agents executed multiple search warrants approved by a federal judge at Lucas’ Portsmouth office and a neighboring cannabis dispensary, Fox News reported. The longtime Democratic lawmaker, a close political ally of Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger, arrived at the scene while agents continued searching the property.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the nature of the investigation or announced any criminal charges connected to the probe.

The raid comes just days after the Democrat sparred online with people who were questioning her recent lack of availability.

“Was out partying my ass off all weekend long, where the hell were you?” she responded.

Fox News correspondent Alex Hogan reported from the scene as FBI personnel conducted the searches. Federal law enforcement sources told the network the warrants are tied to an ongoing corruption investigation involving multiple locations.

Lucas, who represents parts of Portsmouth and surrounding communities, has served in the Virginia Senate since 1992 and currently holds one of the chamber’s highest-ranking leadership positions.

Neither the FBI nor Lucas’ office immediately released additional details regarding the investigation.

Early reports indicate that she sold illegal hemp and THC products at the store she allegedly owns.
