Firefighters responding to a late-night blaze discovered a deceased man inside, prompting a joint homicide and arson investigation
BALTIMORE, Md. — A late-night fire in South Baltimore took a grim turn when emergency crews discovered a deceased man inside the burning property, leading homicide detectives to launch an investigation.
According to Baltimore Police, officers and fire personnel responded at approximately 10:03 p.m. Tuesday to the 2300 block of Round Road for a reported fire.
When first responders arrived, they discovered an unidentified male inside the location who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
The victim’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where investigators will work to determine both the man’s identity and the cause of death.
Police have classified the case as a homicide and arson investigation.
