Laurel, MD – A Prince George’s County Police officer, Corporal Robert Harvin III, has been suspended following his arrest for second-degree assault early this morning.

Corporal Harvin was arrested shortly after midnight in Laurel.

He joined the department in 2016 and is currently assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.

Harvin has been suspended and placed under house arrest following an alleged domestic incident in Laurel. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, involving allegations of Harvin smashing his wife’s iPhone and physically assaulting her.

Court documents revealed that the altercation arose after Harvin’s wife reportedly caught him on the phone with his mistress. During the confrontation, Harvin’s wife alleged that he broke her phone, pushed her, dragged her to the floor, and placed her in a chokehold.

She broke free and used Harvin’s department-issued police radio to call for help.

Responding to an “officer in trouble” call, police conducted an investigation that reviewed footage from the couple’s in-home security cameras, allegedly identifying Harvin as the main aggressor.

Harvin has claimed that the physical altercation was mutual. He also reported injuries, including a bite mark on his upper arm, which he said occurred during the struggle. The officers on the scene noted visible signs of physical assault on both parties involved.
