Bull Attack Claims Life of Pennsylvania Farmer

JACKSON CENTER, PA – A local farmer, Richard “Rick” Joy, aged 51, died following a bull attack on his farm on April 23. Mercer County Coroner John Libonati confirmed the fatal injuries were sustained in the pasture of Joy’s farm.

Rick Joy was tending to his duties on the farm when the attack occurred. “He would have been working on his farm just like any other day when somehow the bull got angry and attacked him. It really is just a tragic incident,” Libonati stated. Following the incident, the Pine Township Engine Company responded first, with Pennsylvania State Police from the Mercer barracks arriving shortly after. Unfortunately, Joy succumbed to his injuries shortly after help arrived.

Joy had a distinguished background, having served in the Army during the Gulf War, and worked as a forklift operator at Montgomery Truss and Panel.
