An incident on February 26th that resulted in the death of Katty Campos ended today with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announcing that Adan Ortiz-Gonzalez of Norristown now faces homicide by vehicle charges along with accused involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment for that crash.

Investigators stated that Ortiz-Gonzalez was traveling at 60 mph in a 25-mph zone when his vehicle collided with Campos’ car at the East Brown and Dekalb streets intersection.

The impact pushed Campos’ Nissan Sentra across the intersection and into a tree on the driver’s side. The 37-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ortiz-Gonzalez and his three young passengers sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Following a detailed analysis, detectives concluded that had Ortiz-Gonzalez been adhering to the 25-mph speed limit, the fatal collision might have been avoided altogether as the Sentra would have cleared the intersection without incident.

Ortiz-Gonzalez turned himself in on Tuesday, and was granted a $50,000 unsecured bail. A condition of his release prohibits him from driving.
