Burglary suspect, Paul Geles, was taken into custody by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly stealing two bicycles from a residence in Spring Hill. The incident was reported on a call made by a citizen to authorities after discovering the theft on the porch on a Friday. The caller detailed that the suspect initially took one bike, returned shortly after to take the second, and then fled the scene.
Assigned to the case was District Two officers, who promptly contacted the victim following the report to gather more details surrounding the incident, which happened the day before the report was made. Detectives swiftly responded and were able to identify the suspect through surveillance footage retrieved from the victim’s residence. The suspected individual was recognized as Paul Geles, a transient known in the area of Spring Hill.
Efforts to locate the suspect paid off when Geles was spotted near Spring Hill Drive. Law enforcement officials managed to detain him without any complications. Following arrest and questioning, Geles confessed to committing both burglaries, leading to his official charges of two counts of Burglary to a Residence.
Only one of the stolen bicycles has been recovered, while detectives continue their search to locate the second missing item.
