Investigation of Fatal Newark Hit-and-Run Crash Continues

NEWARK, DE – Delaware State Police have intensified their investigation into a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian in Newark that resulted in the pedestrian’s death last week.

The pedestrian, a 53-year-old man from Newark, was struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the Kingston Road intersection with East Chestnut Hill Road on April 16, 2024, at around 8:16 a.m. The vehicle, which was traveling westbound on East Chestnut Hill Road, made a right turn onto northbound Kingston Road and then fled the scene, failing to stop after the collision.

Following the crash, the pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital due to life-threatening injuries. However, on April 23, 2024, the victim succumbed to injuries sustained during the hit-and-run incident. Officials have decided not to disclose the victim’s identity until his family and relatives have been notified. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the collision and appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
