Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that transpired near Bethany Beach on Friday evening. The incident occurred on April 19, at around 6:58 p.m.
Along the southbound lanes of Coastal Highway, south of Dune Road, a Ford F-350 pick-up truck with a trailer was in the right lane. Simultaneously, a Jaguar F-type also traveled southbound on Coastal Highway behind the F-350. The Jaguar driver lost control and collided with the trailer connected to the F-350, causing the trailer to overturn.
The driver and passenger of the Ford F-350, a 61-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman from Drums, Pennsylvania, escaped unharmed. However, the Jaguar operator, an 87-year-old man from Rehoboth Beach, suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility. Regrettably, on April 21, the man succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of his family members.
The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing and is being carried out by the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit.
