School Bus and Van Collision in New Jersey Results in Multiple Injuries

WHITING, NJ—An early morning crash on Thursday involving a school bus and a commercial van resulted in several injuries, according to local authorities. The accident occurred at the intersection of State Highway 70 and County Road 571 around 6:40 AM.

Upon arrival, police discovered a yellow 2015 Thomas School Bus with severe front-end damage and a green 2005 Honda Odyssey, also significantly damaged, blocking the travel lanes on County Road 571. Investigations indicated that the Honda, attempting a left turn, crossed in front of the northbound school bus, leading to a collision. The bus driver, 54-year-old Karen Hurley of Whiting, NJ, sustained facial lacerations and was among those transported to Community Medical Center. Additionally, a school bus aide and two juveniles were involved; one juvenile reported chest pain while the others sustained various injuries.
