POINT PLEASANT, NJ – Point Boro softball pitcher Dakota Palmieri has accomplished a feat few in high school softball circles have done. On Wednesday, she threw a perfect game.
Point Pleasant Boro secured a convincing 11-0 victory over Lacey in Wednesday’s Shore – B South matchup, elevating their season record to 3-0.
The match was one-sided, with Point Pleasant Boro launching an offensive onslaught from the second inning, scoring six runs and never looking back. Their dominance was further cemented with one run in the fourth, another in the fifth, and three more in the sixth inning, culminating in an 11-0 final score. The team showcased their batting prowess by accumulating 13 hits and keeping errors off the board throughout the game.
Paige Cannon led the game in runs, crossing the plate three times. Ashley Palmieri notched two hits, contributing significantly to the team’s offensive output.
Palmieri delivered in the circle and in the batter’s box, driving in two runs and striking out seven Lacey batters over six innings, achieving a remarkable perfect game.
Lacey struggled to find their footing against Point Pleasant Boro’s tight defense and aggressive batting, failing to register a hit or a run throughout the game. Their record fell to 0-2 in the Shore – B South division following the loss.
