ALLEGHENY, PA – The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office mourns the unexpected loss of Deputy Greg Wiland, who passed away on Monday evening at the age of 42. Sheriff Kraus shared the sad news, marking the departure of a respected 14-year veteran of the agency, having served since February 2010. Deputy Wiland spent the majority of his career in the courts division, dedicating much of his time to Family Court and the Municipal Courts Building.

Over his years of service, Deputy Wiland was frequently honored for his outstanding performance. He notably received a Commendation of Life Saving for providing crucial aid during a medical emergency at the Family Court Building. Before joining the sheriff’s office, Wiland proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years as a martial arts instructor and was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon among other honors.
Deputy Wiland leaves behind his fiancée Nina Martinelli, his sisters Amanda and Leann, and his parents Gary and Nancy.
