WASHINGTON, D.C.A local resident faces indictment on multiple counts following a series of thefts and an incident of GPS tampering, as announced by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith.

Darryl Robinson, 37, of Washington, D.C., has been indicted on three counts of second-degree theft (felony) and GPS tampering, with the alleged crimes occurring between February 4, 2024, and March 10, 2024. His arraignment is scheduled for April 11, 2024, before a Superior Court judge.

Robinson’s series of thefts began on February 4, 2024, at a CVS in Northwest Washington, D.C., where he was recorded taking merchandise without payment. He repeated this action at the same CVS on February 9, 2024. On March 5, 2024, Robinson was also captured on a ring camera stealing a package from a residence on 10th Street SE, Washington D.C. His arrest on March 10 revealed a failed attempt at GPS tampering.

With a history of prior theft convictions, Robinson faces enhanced penalties, including a mandatory minimum sentence of one year in jail for the theft charge. This case is part of a larger effort by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, which has indicted 37 cases involving felony second-degree theft charges based on prior theft convictions since September 1, 2023.
