Recreational Vehicle Fire Reported in Valley Lee

VALLEY LEE, MD – The Maryland State Fire Marshal has reported an investigation into a fire incident that damaged a recreational vehicle in Valley Lee, St. Mary’s County.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:49 a.m. on April 4, 2024, at 19010 Russell Road. The property involved was a 2013 Cruiser RV View Finder owned by Charles Moore. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths reported as a result of the fire.

The estimated loss due to the fire has been assessed at $8,000 for the structure, with the contents’ loss not specified. The status of smoke alarms and fire sprinklers within the RV was not applicable in this case.

The Second District Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident, with 20 firefighters successfully controlling the fire within 10 minutes. The fire was discovered by the owner, Charles Moore, and originated from the interior of the vehicle. The preliminary cause of the fire has been determined as accidental.
