Alabama Native Strikes $50K Powerball Win in Ohio

COLUMBUS, OH – Christopher Lowman, visiting Ohio from Alabama due to work commitments, has claimed a $50,000 Powerball prize from the March 27 drawing. After deductions for state and federal taxes, Lowman will take home $36,000.

Lowman recounted his disbelief upon realizing his win, sharing the excitement and surprise with his wife in the early hours. The couple plans to use the winnings to clear some debts and fund a vacation, celebrating this unexpected fortune.

The winning ticket was purchased at Powell Marathon, situated at 3446 O’Connell Street in Powell. Given that Alabama does not sell Powerball tickets, Lowman noted the convenience of buying a ticket in Ohio, where he’s currently based for work. He typically buys lottery tickets only for high jackpots and with the Powerball jackpot now at $975 million, he intends to try his luck again, considering Ohio his fortunate location.
