Newark Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Terroristic Threat Incident

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Department of Public Safety is appealing to the public for help in identifying a man involved in a terroristic threat incident. The event occurred early on Friday, March 22, when the suspect, aboard NJ Transit bus No. 31, threatened the bus driver and displayed aggressive behavior.

At around 12:30 a.m., on South Orange Avenue near Longfellow Avenue, the suspect became irate, verbally threatened the driver, and threw a food item at him. He then pulled out a large kitchen knife and made multiple lunging attempts at the driver. The situation de-escalated when the driver informed the suspect that the police were being notified, prompting the suspect to leave the bus and walk north on Longfellow Avenue.

Authorities are urgently requesting anyone with information on the suspect, described as a 5’6” tall male with a light complexion, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, beige bubble jacket, black pants, and carrying a black and gray book bag, to come forward to assist in the investigation.
