SOUTH MIDDLETON TOWNSHIP, PA – Scott Quickel has been identified as the victim of a fatal tree fall incident at a home on 804 Baltimore Pike/US Route 94, reported by the Cumberland County Coroner Charles Hall. The incident occurred at 3:10 a.m. on March 11, following heavy rains and strong winds that loosened the soil, leading to the tree’s collapse onto the residence.

Three occupants were in the home when the tragedy struck. Two managed to escape before emergency response teams arrived, but Quickel required extraction, leading to the coroner’s involvement at the scene. The Pennsylvania State Police and the county coroner’s office are conducting an investigation into the incident.

US Route 94 faced closures for several hours due to the fatal event but was reopened around 7 a.m., as stated by PennDOT. The extent of the damage to the home, whether partial or total, remains unclear at this time.
