RIDGEWOOD, NEW JERSEY — Mary Jo Guinchard, a Republican congressional candidate, has openly criticized Congressman Josh Gottheimer, accusing him of promoting an extreme anti-choice and anti-woman agenda. Guinchard argues that Gottheimer is indifferent to the needs of at-risk women seeking alternatives to abortion.
Guinchard’s remarks followed her participation in a protest outside Gottheimer’s office, which focused on his alleged adverse actions against the Lighthouse Pregnancy Resource Center and other crisis pregnancy centers. She accuses Gottheimer of favoring abortion businesses to the detriment of centers offering life-affirming options.
The Republican candidate contends that Gottheimer’s purported advocacy for women’s choice is misleading, as it solely supports abortion, neglecting those who seek different paths. Guinchard also criticized the congressman for allegedly using law enforcement to intimidate peaceful protesters.
Guinchard aims to challenge Gottheimer in the upcoming election, aiming to shift the fifth congressional district. She highlights Gottheimer’s potential gubernatorial ambitions and criticizes his performance in Congress, especially regarding the SALT deduction, energy prices, and border security.
