GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Galloway Township Police Department has issued an alert following the discovery of skimming devices on two ATMs inside the Pomona Wawa at 275 W. White Horse Pike. The devices were uncovered during routine maintenance by an ATM mechanic. With the investigation still in its early stages, the duration for which the skimming devices were in place remains unclear.

Customers who have used the ATMs at this location are advised to monitor their bank statements for any unauthorized transactions vigilantly. Those who suspect their card information has been compromised should immediately contact their bank and report the incident to the Galloway Township Police Department. ATM skimming, an increasingly common form of theft, involves using a counterfeit card reader attached to the ATM to collect users’ card information and PIN codes illegally.

To safeguard against skimming, individuals are encouraged to inspect ATMs for any signs of tampering, such as adhesive residue or unusual bulkiness at the card insert area or keypad, and to report any suspicious findings.

The quick action by Pomona Wawa in reporting the skimming devices has been crucial in preventing further victimization. The police urge local businesses and banks to inspect their ATMs for tampering and remind the public to remain alert when using card readers.
