Three Suspects Wanted in Connection with Bronx Subway Murder

Bronx, NY – Three individuals have been identified by police as wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on a southbound D train in the Bronx.

On the early morning of Friday, February 23, a 45-year-old man, William Alvarez, was involved in a verbal dispute on the D train departing from the Fordham Road subway station around 5:02 AM. The argument escalated into a physical altercation when the man was joined by two others, resulting in Alvarez being physically assaulted.

The suspects, identified as 24-year-old Justin Herde, 38-year-old Betty Cotto, and 42-year-old Alfredo Trinidad, fled the scene at the 182-183 Street subway station. Alvarez was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death, believed to be from a gunshot or a puncture wound to the chest, is pending determination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
