DOVER, DE – The Dover Police Department has arrested a local man, Lekaro Rembert, on charges related to the illegal possession of firearms during a curfew check late Thursday night. The operation, conducted by the department’s Street Crimes Unit in collaboration with Delaware Probation and Parole, led to Rembert’s arrest after prohibited weapons were found in his residence.
During the curfew check at 10:16 p.m. on the 100 block of Thames Drive, officers discovered a loaded .22 caliber rifle and a .22 caliber Ruger handgun within Rembert’s home. Given Rembert’s prohibition from owning firearms or ammunition, the discovery prompted his immediate arrest. The 31-year-old Dover resident was taken into custody without any incident, highlighting the effectiveness of the law enforcement operation.
Following his arrest, Rembert was processed at the Dover Police Department and subsequently arraigned. Facing charges of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person prohibited, he was committed to SCI with a bail set at $50,000 cash.
