EGG HARBOR CITY, NJ – The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office (ACPO), in a collaborative effort with the Coalition for a Safe Community and the Egg Harbor City Police Department, has taken a significant step in enhancing the lives of local children by assisting in the construction of a new playground at the Harbor City Apartments. This initiative brought together community volunteers and law enforcement officials, including students from Cedar Creek High School’s National Honor Society and members of the ACPO’s Community Outreach team.
The project targeted a traditionally underserved area, aiming to provide a safe and vibrant place for children to play and interact. Lieutenant Michael Kelly, Detectives Estefania Giraldo, and Giphsys Howard lent their expertise to the effort, ensuring the playground was assembled efficiently and safely.
Upon completion, the immediate joy and excitement from the neighborhood children were palpable as they took to climbing and swinging on the new equipment. This playground serves not only as a recreational facility but as a symbol of the community’s investment in its youth’s safety and well-being.
Prosecutor William E. Reynolds expressed his satisfaction with the project, highlighting the value of collaborative efforts that benefit the community’s children. Perry Mays, Chairman of the Coalition for a Safe Community, reflected on the successful partnership between the ACPO, local law enforcement, and the community, seeing the playground as the beginning of many future initiatives aimed at strengthening community ties.
