ACCOKEEK, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged 43-year-old Carl Kearney, Jr., from Griffin, Georgia, with the murder of his girlfriend, 38-year-old Patrina Best of Accokeek.
On the morning of February 17, Kearney voluntarily approached the Division V Clinton police station at around 9:20 am, confessing to strangling Best inside her home located on the 800 block of St. James Court. Following his confession, patrol officers were dispatched to Best’s residence for a welfare check, where they discovered her unresponsive body. Best was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kearney admitted to the homicide during an interview with detectives, stating that the act occurred during an argument. He now faces charges of first and second-degree murder among other related charges and is being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
