Oxon Hill Man Charged with Shooting and Kidnapping of Young Girl

Oxon Hill, MD – Prince George’s County Police have charged 62-year-old Wayne Summers of Oxon Hill with a shooting that occurred Thursday night and the subsequent kidnapping of a young female family member.

The incident unfolded around 9:05 PM in the 7400 block of Livingston Road, outside a local business, where responding officers found an adult male with critical, life-threatening injuries. The victim, identified as a relative of Summers, received immediate life-saving efforts from the officers until an ambulance transported him for further medical care.

Following the shooting, Summers fled the scene with a young girl, also a relative, prompting an urgent search. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Aviation Section, along with the Metropolitan Police Department, located Summers’ vehicle late at night at around 11:30 PM in the 2600 block of South Capitol Street. MPD officers apprehended Summers without incident. Investigations revealed that before his arrest, Summers had left the child at another family member’s home in Washington, DC, where officers later found her unharmed.

The motive behind the shooting appears to be an ongoing dispute. Summers faces charges related to the shooting and the kidnapping. He is currently detained in Washington, DC, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
