Woman Faces Murder Charges in D.C. After Fatal Stabbing of Dad

Washington, D.C. – In a recent development, detectives from the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch have made an arrest related to a fatal stabbing in Northwest D.C. The incident, initially responded to by Third District officers on Saturday at around 8:30 p.m., escalated from a domestic dispute to a homicide.

Officers were alerted to the situation at North Capitol and P Streets, where a woman admitted to stabbing a man within a residence located on the 1600 block of 6th Street, Northwest. The victim found suffering from life-threatening stab wounds, was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

Brittany Gaylor, 32, from Northwest, D.C., was apprehended on the same day and initially charged with Assault with Intent to Kill. Following the victim’s death on Sunday, February 11, 2024, charges against Brittany Gaylor were elevated to Second Degree Murder. The deceased has been identified as 70-year-old James Gaylor, also from Northwest D.C., revealing a tragic domestic layer to the case as the suspect is confirmed to be the daughter of the victim.
