Toddler Rescued After Sand Collapse on Sea Girt Beach

Sea Girt, NJ – A 2-year-old boy was rescued by his father after becoming trapped in a sand collapse on Sea Girt’s Neptune Place Beach, police have reported. Following the incident, local officials have temporarily closed the beach for a safety review.

The child, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reported missing at 11:22 a.m. on Saturday. His parents later informed the authorities that he had been playing on the beach when the sand suddenly collapsed around him. Further details about the incident have not been released by investigators.

After the rescue, the boy was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and observation. He has since been released from the hospital.

The accident has led to the closure of a section of Neptune Place Beach until authorities can inspect the area of the incident as a public safety measure.
