Toddler Killed, Mother Injured in Langley Park Shooting

Langley Park, MD – A tragic incident occurred in Langley Park where a two-year-old child, identified as Jeremy Poou-Caceres from the Chillum area, was fatally shot. The Prince George’s County Police Department reported that the shooting also injured the victim’s mother, whose injuries are not considered life-threatening. In response to this heartbreaking event, the PGPD’s Homicide Unit has launched an investigation and is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.

The incident unfolded on February 8, 2024, around 5:35 p.m., when a detective, present in the 1400 block of Kanawha Street, heard gunfire.

The detective quickly located the crime scene at an apartment complex, finding both victims outside. Immediate life-saving measures were administered to the toddler using the detective’s department-issued trauma kit until paramedics arrived. Unfortunately, the child was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The PGPD is actively working to identify the suspects involved and ascertain a motive behind the shooting. The department urges anyone with information about this case to come forward and contact a Homicide Unit detective at 301-516-2512.
