Prince George’s County Shooting Victim Dies; Homicide Investigation Launched

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation into a shooting that tragically ended in the death of a 26-year-old man from Bowie. The victim, identified as Yohans Raynor, succumbed to his injuries this week, following the incident that occurred in December of 2023.

The shooting took place on December 22, 2023, around 2:35 PM, in the 300 block of Possum Court, an unincorporated area of Capitol Heights. Upon arrival, police discovered Raynor inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but was pronounced dead on February 6, 2024.

In response to this tragic event, detectives are diligently working to uncover a motive and identify any suspects involved. Early investigations suggest that the shooting was not a random act of violence.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. They urge anyone with knowledge about the incident to come forward and contact the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
