Willingboro, NJ – Sergeant William Rivers, a 46-year-old soldier from Willingboro, Burlington County, New Jersey, was identified as one of three American service members killed in a recent attack at a military base in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border. The tragic incident, which also claimed the lives of Specialist Kennedy Sanders, 24, and Specialist Breonna Moffett, 23, occurred on Sunday.

The Pentagon reported that the soldiers died following an attack by a “one-way unmanned aerial system (OWUAS)” that struck their container housing units. This drone, loaded with explosives, targeted Tower 22, a remote outpost located in the northeastern region of Jordan. The base is known to house approximately 350 U.S. Army and Air Force personnel.

In addition to the loss of life, the attack resulted in injuries to dozens of others. The Department of Defense is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Sergeant Rivers, remembered as a devoted father and husband, was part of a contingent tasked with a critical mission in a volatile region. The loss of these service members highlights the ongoing risks and sacrifices faced by U.S. military personnel deployed in global hotspots.

The incident has prompted a reassessment of security measures at U.S. bases in the region, as forces continue to confront a range of threats, including increasingly sophisticated unmanned aerial attacks.
