Man Fatally Shot in South Brunswick Motel Incident

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A fatal shooting occurred at a South Brunswick motel on Wednesday, involving law enforcement officers and an unidentified man.

The incident, under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office, happened at a motel located on Route 1 South in Monmouth Junction.

Around 2:05 p.m., members of the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were executing an arrest warrant for a suspect implicated in several felony offenses.

The situation escalated at approximately 2:47 p.m., leading to an exchange of gunfire between the officers and the individual. The man was declared dead at around 4:29 p.m. In the aftermath, two firearms were recovered near the deceased. No officers were injured during the incident.

This case is being handled in accordance with Attorney General Directive 2019-4, which mandates investigations by the Attorney General’s Office in incidents involving law enforcement officers that result in death.
