Brooklyn, NY – The New York City Police Department has arrested a suspected connected to a homicide in the 77th Precinct. The incident, which claimed the life of a 26-year-old man, occurred on March 20, 2023, at approximately 12:23 p.m.
Derrick Prescod, a 20-year-old male from 1625 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, was arrested on January 22, at around 11:00 a.m. within the 77th Precinct. Prescod has been charged with murder, though it is not specified if this charge relates to the March 20 incident. The NYPD continues its investigation into both cases.
Dion Reid, of Brooklyn, was shot while standing in front of 1608 Sterling Place. The unidentified assailant reportedly fired multiple shots, hitting Reid once in the torso and once in the right foot. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Reid was rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, where he was later pronounced dead. The police are searching for a male suspect, described as around 20 years old, with a medium complexion and slim build, standing 5’9″ tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweater, blue sweatpants, black sneakers, and carrying a black firearm.
