SOUTH BEND – Quintin Ferguson, a 34-year-old resident of South Bend, Indiana, has been sentenced to 240 months in prison following his guilty plea to arson. United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty imposed the sentence, as announced by United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson. Ferguson will also undergo two years of supervised release after completing his prison term.

Case documents reveal that in January 2021, Ferguson deliberately ignited a fire in an apartment unit in Granger, Indiana. The fire rapidly spread, affecting over a dozen apartments in the building. Due to the timely intervention of citizens and local police and fire personnel, residents of the apartment were able to escape without injury. Evidence against Ferguson included video footage of him starting the fire, corroborated by GPS data from a monitor he was wearing, which placed him at the scene.
