CUMBERLAND, MD — The Cumberland Police Department (CPD) reported several incidents on January 16, highlighting local law enforcement activities.
Assault Summons Served Dennis Leo Landis, 33, of Cumberland, MD, was served a criminal summons by CPD officers in relation to an alleged assault incident on Chestnut Street. After signing the summons, Landis was released. He faces second-degree assault charges based on a citizen’s complaint filed at the District Court.
Arrest Warrant for Court No-show Devon James Roby, 19, of Martinsburg, WV, was apprehended by CPD officers on bench warrants for failing to appear in court on three separate occasions. The original charges against Roby include disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. He was taken to Allegany County Detention Center pending a hearing.
Shoplifting and False Identification Nathanial Hoy, 32, of Frederick, MD, was arrested following a shoplifting incident at a business on Queen City Drive. Hoy attempted to avoid arrest by providing a false name, leading to additional charges. He also had an outstanding warrant from Frederick. Hoy faces theft, obstructing and hindering charges, and was held at Allegany County Detention Center for a hearing.
Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear Jessica Nicole Porter, 35, of Cumberland, MD, was served a bench warrant for failing to appear in court. She was transported to Allegany County Detention Center to await her hearing. The original charges include possession of CDS paraphernalia.
Summons for Assault Amanda Ann Clair, 41, of Cumberland, MD, was served a criminal summons by CPD officers following an alleged assault on Eastern Avenue. Clair signed the summons and was released from the scene, facing second-degree assault charges.
Bicycle Incident on I-68 Mackenzie Troy Leahey, 28, from Pennsylvania, was arrested by CPD officers after being found riding his bicycle on the I-68 roadway, causing a traffic hazard. Leahey was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct and received two criminal citations before being released from police headquarters.
