BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – In a historic event for Brick Township, Lisa Crate was sworn in as the first-elected female Mayor in the township’s nearly 174-year history during the Brick Township Council’s annual Reorganization Meeting. Alongside Mayor Crate, Councilman Derrick Ambrosino, Councilman Steve Feinman, Councilman Vince Minichino, and Councilwoman Melissa Travers were also sworn in, each elected to serve a four-year term on the governing body.
Municipal Clerk Lynnette Iannarone administered the oath of office to Mayor Crate, who was elected in November to complete the unexpired term of former Mayor John Ducey. Prior to her mayoral role, Crate served on the Township Council from 2015 until her appointment as Mayor in January 2023. In her address, Mayor Crate outlined her administration’s goals and plans to unite and improve the community.
The Council appointed Vince Minichino as Council President and Derrick Ambrosino as Vice-President for 2024. Both, along with Councilman Feinman and Councilwoman Travers, expressed their commitment to working collaboratively with Mayor Crate and their colleagues for the betterment of Brick Township.
The meeting also recognized Councilwoman Heather deJong for her outstanding leadership as Council President in 2023. Council President Minichino presented deJong with a plaque, acknowledging her dedication and service to the community.
This reorganization meeting marks a significant milestone in Brick Township’s history and showcases the commitment of its leaders to fostering a better, safer community for all its residents.
