WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch is actively investigating a disturbing discovery in Southwest Washington, D.C.
On the morning of January 3, 2024, police responded to a call from the 1400 block of Canal Street, Southwest. Upon arrival, they found human remains in a trash can. The deceased was identified as a male adult, later determined to be 42-year-old Harry Keels, a resident of Southwest, D.C.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, which revealed that Keels’ death was caused by a gunshot wound, leading authorities to rule the case as a homicide.
The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information about this tragic incident to come forward. They are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide.
