GEORGETOWN, DE – The Delaware State Police arrested 44-year-old Anthony Hitchens of Millsboro and a 31-year-old Lewes resident on drug charges on Tuesday afternoon.
On that day, at approximately 4:40 p.m., detectives conducting patrols observed a maroon Pontiac Grand Am, driven by the Lewes resident, failing to signal while turning onto Dupont Boulevard.
The vehicle was stopped on Dupont Boulevard, and the driver, who had an active warrant from Sussex County Court of Common Pleas, was taken into custody. During the arrest, drug paraphernalia was discovered under the driver’s leg.
Subsequent investigation led to the search of passenger Anthony Hitchens. Detectives found approximately 13.45 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 2.85 grams of suspected powder cocaine, and 149 bags of suspected heroin (1.043 grams) in Hitchens’ area of the vehicle. Both individuals were transported to Troop 4, where they faced multiple charges.
Hitchens was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver, two counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and is held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $48,000 cash bond.
The driver faced charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving while Suspended, and Failure to Signal, and was released on their own recognizance after arraignment.
