CROMWELL, CT – A Connecticut mother, Devoni Miller, 23, faces several felony charges following the alleged murder of her 2-year-old daughter. The incident occurred on September 20, when Miller reportedly crashed her vehicle into the Connecticut River, leading to the toddler’s death.
Court records indicate Miller is charged with murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with an emergency call, reckless driving, evading responsibility in operations of other vehicles, and risk of injury to a child.
The probable cause affidavit reveals that around 5:20 p.m., Miller collided with another vehicle in Cromwell. She repeatedly struck the vehicle while attempting to flee, subsequently hitting another car before crashing into a guardrail above the Connecticut River.
A witness reported that Miller exited her car with the child, attempted to prevent the witness from calling 911, and forcibly ended a 911 call made from the witness’s vehicle. Miller’s actions post-collision, including her interactions with the witness and the eventual disappearance from the scene with her child, were detailed in the affidavit.
The case is ongoing, and further details are expected as the investigation continues.
