Baltimore Police Reinvestigate 2002 Christmas Day Fire Death as 'Undetermined'

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD – The Baltimore County Police Department is revisiting the 2002 Christmas day death of Clarence “Buddy” Downs, initially ruled accidental due to a fire at his residence. The case, involving the fatality at the 3700 block of Pansy Avenue, has taken a new turn based on recent findings.

After years of persistent investigation and following new information, detectives have prompted the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Maryland to amend the manner of Downs’ death from accidental to undetermined. This change indicates unresolved elements surrounding the incident, casting doubt on the initial conclusion.

Downs, remembered as a father and an employee of the forestry division of the City of Baltimore, left behind unanswered questions about the circumstances leading to his death. The Baltimore County Police Department is actively seeking any information that could shed light on this case.
