BRICK, NJ – Mayor Lisa Crate, in conjunction with the Township Council, has announced the authorization for the Mayor to acquire a new property for inclusion in the Township’s Open Space inventory.

The property, situated at the intersection of Herbertsville Road and Maple Avenue, falls within the Village Zone, an area previously eligible for residential or mixed-use development. However, with this acquisition, the land is now set to remain an undeveloped, wooded area indefinitely.

Mayor Crate extended her gratitude to the Brick B.O.S.S. (Brick Open Space Savers) Committee for their significant role in this acquisition. She acknowledged their continuous efforts in identifying potential properties for preservation within the township.

The funding for this purchase was secured through bonds, approved by the Council at their meeting on December 12, 2023. Additionally, the township has applied for funding from Green Acres, aiming to alleviate the financial impact on local taxpayers. This move reflects the township’s commitment to expanding its green spaces and preserving natural habitats.
