ATHENS, OH – Sandra B. Petrey, a 59-year-old resident of Athens, Ohio, has been sentenced to a mandatory term of 9 to 13 ½ years in the state penal system. The sentencing, handed down by Judge George P. McCarthy on November 14th, follows Petrey’s conviction on several drug-related charges.

During the sentencing, the state argued for a mandatory prison term of 10-15 years, while the defense sought the minimum possible prison sanction. Petrey was found guilty of the following offenses:

  1. Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a first-degree felony;
  2. Trafficking in Cocaine, a second-degree felony;
  3. Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a third-degree felony.

The case against Petrey stemmed from a search warrant executed in May 2023 at her residence, shared with James Creamer. The search led to the discovery of various drugs, items indicative of drug activity, and over $8,000 in cash. Both Petrey and Creamer admitted to law enforcement officers that they were involved in the use and sale of Cocaine and Methamphetamine.

This sentencing reflects the ongoing efforts of the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office and law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and possession in the community.
