COLLIER COUNTY, FL – The Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has reported the arrest of a suspected drug dealer for trafficking fentanyl. TaylorAnn L. Gilligan, 29, faces charges of fentanyl trafficking and other narcotic-related felonies following her sale of the substance to an undercover deputy.
Sheriff Kevin Rambosk highlighted this arrest as a testament to the CCSO’s ongoing efforts to prevent overdoses and bring those responsible to justice. Gilligan’s arrest follows her involvement in selling fentanyl to an undercover detective on three separate occasions between March and July, including one instance where she sold a trafficking amount of 6.6 grams of fentanyl — enough to potentially kill 3,300 people.
The potency of fentanyl is such that just 2 mg, comparable to a few grains of table salt, can be lethal for most individuals. Exposure alone can be fatal, as noted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Gilligan, a convicted felon in Florida, was recently found guilty of fentanyl possession following an August arrest where the opioid was discovered in her vehicle during a traffic stop on I-75.
