Boston Police Warn of Increase in Roofie, Ketamine Spiked Drinks Citywide

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Police Department has alerted the public to the dangers of drugs such as Rohypnol (‘roofie’), GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid), and Ketamine being used to spike drinks.

These substances, which are scentless, colorless, and tasteless, can induce disorientation, confusion, temporary paralysis, or unconsciousness, leaving individuals vulnerable.

In response, the Boston Police Department emphasizes the importance of personal vigilance in social settings.

They advise ensuring drinks are served directly by bartenders or servers, maintaining continuous watch over drinks, never leaving them unattended, and even carrying drinks to the restroom if necessary. The public is asked to use protective devices to cover drinks when not actively watching them and to consider employing test strips or special nail polish that detect drugs in drinks.

Additionally, immediate help should be sought if experiencing symptoms like dizziness or nausea.
