Princeton Joins Womanspace in Lighting Up Hope Against Domestic Violence

PRINCETON, NJ — The Municipality of Princeton proudly participates in Womanspace, Inc.’s Communities of Light™, a campaign to raise awareness for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Princeton Police Department collaborates with Womanspace, Inc. to assist and protect domestic violence victims.

On the first Monday of December, Communities of Light candles illuminate the streets of central New Jersey, symbolizing hope for those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. The event aims to increase awareness of these issues and the services available in Mercer County to support victims. Luminary kits are used to convey the message that “Peace Begins at Home.”

Established in 1977, Womanspace is a significant non-profit in the Mercer County area and New Jersey, offering comprehensive services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. These services include 24/7 crisis intervention, emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, support groups, court advocacy, and crisis hotlines.
