NORTH VERSAILLES, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department has reported the arrest of a Pittsburgh man, Ian Fields, 46, following an officer-involved shooting incident in North Versailles.

The event unfolded in the early hours of November 24, at around 3:39 am, when County 9-1-1 received reports of a domestic disturbance involving gunfire in the 200 block of Arlington Avenue. Officers from the North Versailles Police Department, responding to the scene, encountered Fields in an alley behind a residence. Despite initial attempts to arrest him peacefully, Fields reportedly ignored officers’ commands. A taser was deployed by one of the officers, but Fields retaliated by drawing a handgun and firing multiple shots at the police.

During the exchange, a North Versailles officer was hit by gunfire.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital and has been treated and released. Officers returned fire, after which Fields fled. Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit was called to lead the investigation. Through witness statements, detectives identified Fields as the suspect. He was later found and arrested without further incident on the 200 block of Washington Road.

Fields, who was shot in his lower right leg during the shootout, received medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

He faces multiple charges, including four counts of assault of a law enforcement officer and four counts of aggravated assault. ‘Upon release from the hospital, Fields will be transferred to Allegheny County Jail to await his preliminary arraignment.
