BROOKLYN, NY — In a devastating incident early Sunday morning, a residential fire at 242 Albany Avenue claimed the lives of three family members. Authorities reported the deceased as Albertha West, 81, Michael West, 58, and Jamiyl West, 33, all residents of the Brooklyn address.
The New York Police Department responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:35 AM in the area covered by the 77th Precinct. Fire Department of New York (FDNY) teams quickly arrived at the scene to battle the blaze.
Despite their efforts, the three victims were transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, where they were pronounced dead.
In addition to the fatalities, twelve individuals received treatment for smoke inhalation. The FDNY Fire Marshall is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the fire’s cause. As the inquiry continues, details remain limited, with officials urging the public to await further information.
