Homeless Man Arrested for NYC Eye Gouging Attack

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has arrested a suspect involved in two assaults on University Avenue.

On November 10, a man attacked a 49-year-old male near 2265 University Avenue. The assailant, unprovoked, knocked the victim to the ground and struck him with an object, attempting to gouge his eyes. Shortly after, the same man assaulted a 52-year-old woman at 2324 University Avenue, slashing her forehead. Both incidents resulted in non-life-threatening injuries, with the victims receiving treatment at Saint Barnabus Hospital.

The suspect is described as a male with light complexion, thin build, black hair, and a black mustache. His attire included a black long-sleeve shirt, black pants, and black and gray socks. He was last seen heading north on University Avenue towards Fordham Road.

On Saturday, police announced the arrest of 29-year-old Xavier Rodriguez, a homeless man. Rodriguez was charged with assault.
