SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office has indicted 52-year-old Steven Syrop of Holtsville on charges of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting. The indictment stems from an incident in May that resulted in the death of Jennifer Bianco, aged 42, from Bay Shore.

On the night of May 21, around midnight, Syrop was operating a blue 2020 Chevy Silverado on North Ocean Avenue in Holtsville when he allegedly hit Bianco.

The victim, who was on the shoulder of the road, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Syrop is accused of fleeing without providing assistance or notifying law enforcement.

Evidence linking Syrop to the scene came from car parts found on the roadside, which were consistent with damage to his vehicle. His car was located at his residence the following day.

During Syrop’s arraignment on Wednesday, Judge Karen M. Wilutis ordered him held on bail with his driving privileges suspended. Syrop’s legal counsel, Edward Palermo, Esq., will represent him in court on December 7.
