PATERSON, NJ — A morning shooting on October 1 at the intersection of Park Avenue and East 22nd Street has led to the arrest of John McFadden, charged with murder and related weapons offenses in the death of 19-year-old Eric Boone.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announced that at least seven shots rang out at the busy Paterson intersection shortly after 6:30 a.m., resulting in Boone sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
Upon their arrival, police discovered Boone injured on the ground. Despite rapid response and emergency medical efforts, Boone was later pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center.
McFadden was transported to the Passaic County Jail. He awaits his preliminary court appearance in Central Judicial Processing in Paterson.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Authorities are calling for anyone with information to come forward to assist with the case.
